Fattoria San Martino - Tuscany

 

In the Beautiful Tuscan countryside, in Siena province, 800 meters far from Montepulciano's old town walls, San Martino organic farm carries on its biodynamic/homeopathic agriculture activities together with its farmhouse Bed and Breakfast service. San Martino's Farm and Villa are placed in a privileged location for its landscape that embraces the whole valley, the surrounding hills and a breathtaking view of the town.
The Villa has been recently restored according to the rules of bioarchitecture, using exclusively natural and ecological materials. Four spacious rooms, with mahogany wood floor and private bathrooms, are located on the first and second floor of the Villa; king size beds are made with solid wood frames, special wood and latex springs and cotton futon mattress that allow perfect adaptability. Each room has an electric current breaker that switches off all electric tension as soon as the last light is turned off and thus cancels the presence of any electromagnetic field. Heating system and hot water are fed by solar energy (solar panels) and/or wood.
Morning breakfast is prepared only with home made or local organic products, suitable for vegetarians and ciliacs.
At the ground floor our guests can benefit of a spacious dining-room with a comfortable kitchen and terraces, and of a Natural Swimming Pool (bio-swimming pool), free of any water chemical products, where to dive or relax under the secular olive trees.
The Farm covers an area of 5 hectares of land cultivated with biodynamic/homeopathic methods philosophically inspired by the founder of Anthroposophy Dott. Rudolf Steiner. Actually San Martino's Farm produces saffron, extra virgin olive oil, honey, cereals and grass.

How to reach us:

The villa of the farm of San Martino stands just outside the ancient walls of Montepulciano on a hillock: the country path that leads to it runs along the borders of the town, through fields of vineyards, olive trees, sunflowers and wheat.
Some of the windows of the house give onto the view of the town of Montepulciano perched on top of the next hill, displaying its ancient palaces and churches; from the other windows you can enjoy the view over the Val di Chiana, the lakes of Montepulciano and Trasimeno and the Umbrian Appenines.
The environment is fully respected and no hunting is allowed in the area around the villa.

»» Arriving from north/ Florence, take the highway A1 direction Rome.
After about a hour driving you will find the exit (USCITA) Val di Chiana,Bettolle. Follow the direction Montepulciano (15 km) and you will arrive at the traficlights at Montepulciano on your lefthand you will find a church with a parking place in front turn around the circle and keep the church on your left hand and take the left street wich goes down. Pass in front of the supermarket Conad and after turn to the right ,direction autostazione (busstation) there you will find an other circle follow the street down on your left and you will find on your lefthand a tenniscourt, keep this on your left hand and turn immediately to the left (white sign with san martino) after 600 meters you turn to the left at indication fattoria San Martino.

»» If you come from south/ Rome, take the highway A1 direction Florence, after about an hour and a half driving you will find the exit Chiusi. Follow indication for Chianciano,Montepulciano. When you arrive on the cross before the old centre of Montepulciano you will take the direction to the right to MONTEPULCIANO, Torrita, Sinalunga, follow the street with the pine trees and on a certain point cross a bridge and after you will find a bar on your right hand (bar degli artisti) after 10 meters of green you will find a street on your right wich goes down. Take the right and follow the street down and you will find a tennis court on your lefthand Immediately after the tenniscourt turn on your left with a white indication to fattoria San Martino drive for 600 meters , at a big old cypress turn to the left.
