La Macchiola Agriturismo - Apulia
“The Macchiola” situated on a peaceful rural village of Spongano, is an organic farm, devoted to give hospitality. The guests will be able to lodge in the verdant eighteenth century Guest-House, diligently restored, overlooking the farm yard, divided in independent typically furnished lodgings, all are unique and of great atmosphere. Great relax in Italian-style garden where the breakfast in the summer is served , between box hedges, grand citrus plantation, oasis of palms, oranges and mandarins. |
The ancient farm of the Rizzelli Family is specialized in the "biological cultivation of olive groves, owned by the same farm, situated on the lands of Spongano, Andrano, Nociglia, and Racale. In th estate "Masseria Nova" to Gallipoli produces also first vegtables, wihich the potato novel of variety Seiglinde, to which the native capers join.
Around the middle of october, the olives, (made by biological method), without the use of chemical substances, are directly collected from the trees (using mechanical shakers).
Then the olives are worked by the oil-mill within 24 hours after being collected, with the technique of "Squeezing to cold", to temperature controlled, to keep the properties and the great taste of the olive oil. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil "La Macchiola", made from Salento's olives: Cellina di Nardò, Ogliarola leccese, Leccina, is one of the few olive oil which have been awarded the AIAB-ICEA Certificate (which certifies the Biological Guarantee), and the DOP "Land of Otranto" Certificate (which certifies the origin of the product guarantee).
In the february 2001 the oil "La Macchiola" has been awarded the first prize as "Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Land of Otranto".
It's features are: greenish yellow colour, sweet and fragrant taste.
This oil separate in silos of steel, and made in bottles of o,25 cl. -0,50cl. - 0,75 cl. and in cans of 5 litre.
The farm intends tomache the cultivation of the olive groves and the tradition of the rural world know.
Moreover it is even a Didactic Farm whose aim is reapproching children to nature.
